Today was our last full day at Malta. We went to the city Valetta and walked a bit around and ended in of of the churches for a while...
Malta is a little island with 460.000 Residents. All people are Catholic and joining of of the 365 churches. Every church has his own festivals with a lot of fireworks. There are just a few big churches where we can go in. I have this thing with old churches, I love the silence and the art. I already had that since I was little. I was grown up as Catholic... well we had our Baptism and Confirmation and we went to church at Christmas in the first few years till I went to highschool but thats it. We don't pray, we don't read the bible or do things like that. And I still don't do it.
I never talk about religions, because when you start about it there will be a conversation that never ends happy. And why? Because everyone has his own opinion about it and stay with it. But after what happened today (I wrote this blog a few days after I got back from Malta) I really had the feeling to write about it.
In the past years and still there are a lot of fights ans wars all over the world about the different kind of faiths and believings.
And if you think really clear by yourself, no matter what you are believing... we all believe in the same thing. There was a person... it doesn't matter how his or her name was... God, Jesus, Alah, Bacchus, Zeus, Buddha or whatever.
In my eyes it's just a hold for people that need someone, a story or a faith with a name. But it's just a believing. Like you already say " I believe in..." But are you sure? Are you sure that all these stories happened for real? Are you sure his name was ....? What if someone made the stories up or what if his name was Steven, Owen or Derek? No one knows it for sure... we just believe the story in the book. We also believed in Peter Pan when he was little... and did we fight about it when someone in school told you "No I don't believe in him, I believe in Cinderella" ? Nope, we just looked weird and went playing again. Thats it... thats life... so why are all these wars in the world?
I don't like to be pushed around by someone about his religion. I don't like when people talk with me and tell me "Read the bible... you will see that I'm right, because years ago Jesus was also right". Or "Jesus would say..." Or "Allah would do...". In my eyes it's hiding yourself, hiding your own opinion, wel it is your opinion but you really really want that the other people have the same opinion so you tell them "Jesus did that".
Believe [bih-leev] verb (used with object), believed, believing. To suppose or assume; understand (usually followed by a noun clause): I believe that he has left town.
So you believe? Or are you sure?
Don't start about religion with me in the way that you want to push your religion on me... and NEVER preach on me!! It's really not a good idea. Because I'm one of these persons that don't believe... I'm SURE there is something, but what, how and how he or she calls him or herself is the question and we will see it when the time is ready and we see the gorgeous light at the end of the tunnel (I hope there will be light).
Till that time I enjoy all kinds or art... also at a church or mosque from every riligion! Let people their dignity and enjoy life! But never preach on me... if you still do it
